Top 6 candidates for 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

Last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year race was an extremely tight one that came down to the wire. While Saquon Barkley ended up taking home the award, he and Baker Mayfield both staked valid claims for the honor, and one could realistically see Mayfield as a worthy recipient. Even Pro Bowlers like Quenton Nelson and Phillip Lindsay made sense as potential winners.

Without a blue-chip running back prospect or truly inspiring top-tier quarterback prospects, the 2019 draft class could be tough to predict an Offensive Rookie of the Year for. There are several rookies who stand out as potential winners of the award this year, which should provide for an unpredictable race from start to finish. Though it was tough to narrow this list down to six, these rookies are among the top candidates for the award.

With Marshawn Lynch no longer on the team, the Raiders have a clear position in the starting lineup for first-round pick Josh Jacobs, and he will likely produce right away in their offense.

Jacobs is an intelligent, elusive and powerful back who also has a lot of value on passing downs. Saquon Barkley’s value as a receiver played a big part in his winning Offensive Rookie of the Year last year, and while Jacobs probably won’t catch 91 passes for 721 yards, his fluidity and hands as a receiver will help his production a bit.

With the likes of Trent Brown, Gabe Jackson and Rodney Hudson paving the way for him up front, he should have the chance to carry a sizable workload and put up big numbers for Oakland.
